Welcome to our weekly newsletter
Ear
How shall they hear?  Unless you tell them.
How much are you hearing from the clergy and those leading services?
We want to learn and improve. So please tell us. Please complete audibility and comprehensibility survey in church each week for the next few weeks.
Thank you!
The Collect, the prayer for the week
  Eternal God,
  give us insight
to discern your will for us,
to give up what harms us,
and to seek the perfection we are promised
  in Jesus Christ our Lord.

ComeAndSee
We had a small but lovely group on Tuesday. It is not too late for you to invite someone and offer to come with them.
Tuesday evenings, 7.45pm in Canterbury Room.
This is designed for those who might be curious about who Jesus really is, what he really meant by his words and life. It uses 6 ways to look at him, and unpacks the 9 statements in the Beautitudes.
South Stoke prayer walk
Liz and Jo will be doing a prayer walk around South Stoke on next Wednesday (15th March) starting from St Andrew’s at 1:30pm. Anyone is welcome to join them.
TheEnglishman
Pick-a-Flick, Thursday 16th March, 10:30am
Pick-a-Flick takes place next week with the film “The Englishman who went up a Hill but came down a Mountain”. As usual, there will be coffee before the film and a light lunch afterwards and we ask for a contribution of £5 towards this. Pre-booking is required so please email Jenny Boyd  or Sarah Fraser to book in and to ask for transport if you require it.
Deliverer for paper copies of the newsletter (17th March) only :)
Next week Geoffrey Horne, who faithfully delivers about 20 paper copies of the newsletter around Goring and Streatley every week, is unable to do so. If you might be able to help in a few streets in one or other (or both!) villages please contact the church office on 875651 or officeofgsandss@yahoo.com. Many thanks.
MotheringSundayPosie
Mothering Sunday Posies
We will be making posies of flowers for distribution at our services on Mothering Sunday.
Posy making for St Thomas’ will be at 10.30am on Saturday 18th March in the Canterbury Room. Anyone who would like to help would be very welcome.
Audibility surveys
Please take time to fill out one of these in church today and over the next few weeks. We really do want everyone to hear and find it helpful.
News from Wallingford food bank
Wallingford food bank has contacted us about an app you can download to your phone which highlights items that the foodbank particularly needs.
FoodBankApp
Here is a link to a very short film explaining how it works. https://www.bankthefood.org/notjustbakedbeans/ If you have a smart phone, you can download the free app called “BankTheFood”, register and “follow” the Wallingford food bank. If you shop at Waitrose in Wallingford, or the Co-ops in Benson and Woodcote, the app will ping your phone with a list of the most urgent items they need when you arrive. Equally a user can check the app at any time to see what is needed and shop wherever they choose.
SteamingCoffee
Warm Space
Come and enjoy some company, tea, coffee, toast and a chance to chat or do a jigsaw in the warmth of the Canterbury Room. Do bring a puzzle, a game or your knitting! Everyone is very welcome.
Our doors are open on Mondays from 10am – 12noon until the end of March.
Please pray for this venture and telephone the vicarage (875651) if you need help with a lift.
Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to make it possible.

We are asked to pray

  • For the relief operation in Syria/Turkey.
  • For our growing closer to God this Lent
