The Collect

The prayer for the week

Lord of all power and might,
the author and giver of all good things:
graft in our hearts the love of your name,
increase in us true religion,
nourish us with all goodness,
and of your great mercy keep us in the same;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever

Readings for this Sunday: Col. 3: 1-11, Ps. 49: 1-12 and Luke 12: 13-21.

This weekend:

8:00am             BCP Holy Communion at St Thomas’
10:30am           Benefice Holy Communion at St Andrew’s
followed by drinks and bring your own picnic

This Sunday 31st July.

We can all be together.

2 out of 3 churches will not have to stress wardens or sidesmen, clergy don’t have to rush between services. We can all offer or be given lifts. So please come to our benefice service 10.30am at St Andrew’s, South Stoke.

Please call if you need help getting there..

Not a week off but a party!
There will be refreshing bubbles served after the service. Ben and Sarah will be staying on to picnic with anyone else who can stay for a bring and share picnic after the service at St Andrew’s.
All welcome!

Care for Creation

GreatBigGreenWeekOur small group is planning a day on Saturday 1st October to draw together our villages in the Rectory Garden bringing together everyone’s concerns and ideas as to how we can respond better to the climate crisis.

This will be part of the national Great Big Green Week.

Thank you!

  • Thank you to to our volunteer churchyard mowers at St Thomas’, and to Chris who kindly keeps our machines going. They met on Monday to work out who will mow which parts of the churchyard to maximise its wildlife potential
  • Thank you also to our new baristas, who served coffee at St Thomas’ last Sunday.
  • New volunteers are always welcome to share out the joys of serving each other.

CMS liaison volunteers

We are looking for a volunteer(s) who would like to act as the point of contact between Steve and Lindsay, our CMS Mission Partners. Mary carries out this role for St Mary's in Streatley and would be happy to chat if you are interested to know more.

The role is not onerous or time-consuming but is valuable in keeping the church family up to date with the work being done with street kids in Honduras so that we can maintain our support and connection. If you are interested in this role, please contact Ben or the church office. Thank you.
